876 Classmates to William Mary Schifferli 5-Apr-1908
A postcard from classmates Walter Fornes, Joseph Hoernschmeyer, Ludwin Winter, visiting in Bologna to William Mary Schifferli at Innsbruck.
William at this time was sick with tuberculosis, and would soon return from school in early June 1908 to the family home in Buffalo NY to convalesce, but would pass away on 27-Jul-1908, a few months after this card was written.

The Marsala last night was yellow! It had a pungent taste!! We did not observe the [promis cuitate ciborum] - we ate fish & meat in bona fide! He means in Verona!

Dear Bill:
Engine got a hot-box at a little dump out in the wilds of dago-land. Delayed us an hour, and we missed connections for Florence. Are staying here overnight, celebrating with Tuscany wine. Regards W. F.
Had the real Cura celebration last night. began at 9. P.M. - lasted until bed-time. I dunno - its nice here. Joe H.
When do we eat.- The Tuscany wine is sour. But never mind! Last night we had marsala! And the bishop said: Will you have some lemonade? [Oi] yes! Eat lots & get as fat as a fat cat. Winter
